What if the final scene of Shakespeare's tragic love story Romeo & Juliet was slightly tweaked, so that instead of pain and death, there was actually joy and laughter? Turning the famous Shakespeare tragedy completely on its head, the audience meets both William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway who attempt to erase the past, meaning that instead, Juliet gets to live and travel to Paris to party, and to push the memory of Romeo from her mind. While attending the Renaissance ball in the city, Juliet meets Francois who is a spirited individual trying to carve out his own place in society. Juliet once again finds herself head over heels in love all over again, but will history repeat itself? 

When was the premiere of & Juliet?

& Juliet received its world premiere at Manchester Opera House and played a limited season in Manchester from September 10th - October 12th. 2019, before making the move to the West End into its current home at the Shaftesbury Theatre a month later beginning previews from November 2nd ahead of an official opening night on November 20th.

Who wrote the musical & Juliet?

& Juliet features a book by David West Read, whose other works include 'The Dream of the Burning Boy', 'The Performers', 'The Great Pretender' and also the popular and award-winning sitcom 'Schitt’s Creek'.
