Producers have announced that due to high demand, Tina - The Tina Turner Musical is to carry on performances at the Aldwych Theatre until at least December 18th. Tickets to Tina - The Tina Turner Musical tickets are on sale now.
Tina the Musical charts both the public as well as private life of Tina Turner who defied all odds and rose to become a global singing sensation, while staying both resilient and defiant in the face of racism and sexism throughout both the music industry and also her private life. The popular West End musical is packed with Tina Turner hits including “Nutbush City Limits,.” and “Proud Mary”.
Continuing in the title role of Tina Turner is Aisha Jawando, with Jammy Kasongo taking the role of Ike Turner. Other notable cast members include Alice Bailey Johnson as Rhonda Graam, Joe Evans as both Phil Spector and Terry Britten, Irene Myrtle Forrester as GG, Francesca Jackson, Madeline Appiah as Zelma, Louise McCaulsky as Alline Bullock, Matt Mills as Richard Bullock, Posi Morakinyo as Raymond Hill, Garmon Rhys as Roger Davies, and Joseph Richardson as Erwin Bach. Tina Turner will be played by Chanel Haynes for select performances.
The children’s cast in the show includes Maya Parks, Maiya Eastmond, and Zian Desole, who all share the role of the young Anna Mae. Spencer Salami, Elias Agbodan George and Jhobe Duncan who share the role of young Craig, and Tia Roche, Chenai Broadbent, and Amor Querico who all share the role of young Alling.
Tina - the Tina Turner Musical is to also embark on a new partnership with national domestic abuse charity, Refuge, that celebrates half a century since the opening of their first shelter.
Tina the Musical was written by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, and is directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Choreography for the show is by Anthony van Laast, with costume and scenic design by Mark Thompson, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and lighting by Bruno Poet.
