Following a successful UK tour, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is to play a season in the West End at the Gillian Lynne Theatre and will begin previews on July 18th, with an opening night scheduled for July 28th and performances running until January 8th. 2023.
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a play that is based on the story by C.S Lewis’ from the famous Narnia series and follows the Pevensie children, Peter, Lucy, Edmund, and Susan as they take the step through a magical wardrobe into the fantasy world of Narnia where they meet a lion named Aslan, Mr Tumnus, and also must contend with the white witch.
The white witch will be played by 'Eastenders' actress Samantha Womack in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Womak's previous stage credits include roles in ''Guys and Dolls', The Girl on the Train', and 'South Pacific'. Full casting for the production is to be announced in due course.
Michael Fentiman will direct the West End production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, which is based on a production by Sally Cookson. The wider creative team for the production will feature puppetry design by Max Humphries, sound design by Ian Dickinson, set and costume design by Tom Paris, choreography by Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus, composition by Benji Bower and Barnaby Race, lighting design by Jack Knowles, and Gareth Tucker for Autograph, and puppetry direction by Toby Olié.
Performances of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe will begin at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from July 18th.
