Following two very successful seasons at the Southwark Playhouse, Jason Robert Brown’s award-winning musical, The Last Five Years, is to return to London’s West End for the first time in over a decade at the Garrick Theatre.
This both poignant and emotionally powerful story about two New Yorkers who fall in and out of love during a period of five years, features a beautifully bittersweet musical score, featuring ‘I’m Still Hurting’,‘I Can Do Better Than That’ and ‘Goodbye Until Tomorrow’.
Packed full of vivid storytelling and romance, Jamie tells his story from the very beginning and the initial spark of their relationship, whilst Cathy’s version is told starting from the end of what turned out to be a turbulent partnership in reverse. The pair cross paths just once, as their versions collide during the middle of the show.
The bold new production from Jonathan O'Boyle's sees the actor-musicians playing the piano, guitar and ukulele live on stage throughout the show which adds an additional musical narrative and unique magic to Brown’s songs.
