The Old Vic will once again stage the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol this festive season, as the show will return for a fifth year starring Stephen Mangan as Ebenezer Scrooge. Performances of A Christmas Carol will be at the Old Vic from November 13th - January 8th.
Mangan is to return to the stage to play Scrooge, having previously been seen previously been in plays such as 'The Birthday Party' and 'The Man in the White Suit', and will be joined by Jack Shalloo in the role of Bob Cratchit, Amanda Hadingue as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Bridgette Amofah as Mrs Cratchit, James Staddon as Fezziwig, Rachel John as Ghost of Christmas Present, Mrs. Fezziwig, and Andrew Langtree as Father/Jacob Marley.
Additional casting for the production includes Nicola Espallardo as Jess, Geraint Downing as Ferdy/George, Karen Fishwick as Belle, Rose Shalloo as Little Fan, Nick Hart as Nicholas, Samuel Townsend as Young Ebenezer and Oli Higginson as Fred, Full casting for the show will be announced in due course.
Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol follows three spirits who come to visit Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve to warn him of his ways and has with the exception of last year due to the pandemic been staged annually at the Old Vic since 2017. The production has also been staged on Broadway.
A Christmas Carol was the winner of five Tony Awards at last night's 74th Annual Tony Awards in New York City.
A Christmas Carol will be directed by Matthew Warchus, with sound design and video design by Simon Baker, scenic and costume design by Rob Howell, movement by Lizzi Gee, and lighting design by Hugh Vanstone.
