Richard Coyle To Take Over As Atticus Finch In 'To Kill A Mockingbird'

The court is now in session, could you please all rise for the new Atticus Finch!  Richard Coyle is to take over the role of lawyer Atticus Finch in the tense stage adaption of Harper Lee's classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird at the Gielgud Theatre this summer.  Tickets to To Kill a Mockingbird are currently on sale both online and through the box office.

Rafe Spall's last performance in the play will be on August 13th, with Coyle taking over from August 15th. His previous theatre credits include 'The Collection', 'Ink', 'Don Carlos and The Lover' as well as also numerous TV roles in series such as 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' and 'Coupling'.

Also joining the cast of the To Kill A Mockingbird will be Niall Buggy as Judge Taylor from August 15th, as he takes over in the role from Jim Norton.

The full cast of To Kill a Mockingbird features  Jack Benjamin, Harry Attwell, Itoya Osagiede, Amanda Boxer, Anna Munden, Poppy Lee Friar, John Hastings, Danny Hetherington, Ryan Ellsworth, Pamela Nomvete, Laura Howard, Lloyd Hutchinson, Gwyneth Keyworth, Laurence Belcher, Tom Mannion, Jude Owusu, David Moorst, Patrick O’Kane, Harry Redding, David Sturzaker, Natasha Williams, Helen Belbin, Simon Hepworth, Paul Birchard, Rebecca Hayes, Matthew Jure, Tiwai Muza, Oyin Orija, Candida Caldicot, and Ciyo Brown.

The plot of To Kill A  Mockingbird is set in 1930s Alabama, the To Kill and follows the white lawyer Atticus Finch and his family as he attempts to defend the wrongfully accused black man Tom Robinson.  The play is seen through the eyes of and narrated by Finch's daughter Scout. 

The powerful Pulitzer-winning novel by Harper Lee has been adapted for the stage by Aaron Sorkin, with direction by Bartlett Sher, sound design by Scott Lehrer, costume design by Ann Roth, set design by Miriam Buether, and lighting design by Jennifer Tipton.

Performances of To Kill a Mockingbird are at the Gielgud Theatre.
