Following the recent and exciting news that that Pride & Prejudice* (Sort Of) is to make the transfer into the West End later this year, further details about the show have now been revealed. Pride & Prejudice* (sort of) is to embark on an open-ended run at the Criterion Theatre from October 15th, with its official opening night scheduled for November 2nd
Producer David Pugh said of the upcoming production: “I so wanted to bring Pride & Prejudice* (sort of) to London’s glittering West End. I wanted to put it into the perfect theatre, which is the Criterion, and I would only open it as one of the first new shows in London where every seat could be filled.”
This contemporary production, based on the classic novel, 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen, follows the young female servants as they retell the story, set to pop songs including singalong hits such as Rod Stewart's “Young Hearts Run Free” and the Sonny & Cher classic, “I Got You, Babe”. A talented five-strong cast will all multi-role to play all of the characters, as well as playing instruments and singing.
Playwright Isobel McArthur is to star in the production as both 'Darcy' and 'Mrs Bennet'. Other key characters will be played by Tori Burgess, who takes on the role of 'Mr Collins', Christina Gordon who will play 'Lady Catherine de Bourgh' Jane, Meghan Tyler as Lizzie Bennet, and Hannah Jarrett-Scott as both 'Charlotte' and 'Charles Bingley'.
Simon Harvey will direct Pride & Prejudice* (sort of) alongside McArthur, with Jos Houben in charge of comedy staging, scenic design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, sound design by Michael John McCarthy and Luke Swaffield, Autograph and choreography by Emily-Jane Boyle and lighting design by Colin Grenfell,
Pride & Prejudice* (sort of) is scheduled for an open-ended run with performances for the initial booking period scheduled until February 14th. 2022.
Performances of Pride & Prejudice* (Sort Of) will begin at the Criterion Theatre from October 15th.
