Producers have announced that Moulin Rouge! The Musical is to play an extended booking period at the Piccadilly Theatre until at least July 23rd. Tickets for the new booking period have been released and are available now.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on the 2001 movie of the same name and follows Christian, an American writer, who finds himself in Paris looking for some literary inspiration, but falls head over heels in love with the Moulin Rouge sensation, Satine. He is not Satine's only admirer, however, as the Duke of Monroth is also vying for Satine’s affection in the club, ensuring that sparks fly in the Parisian cabaret.
Previews for Moulin Rouge! The Musical began at the Piccadilly Theatre back in November, and the show officially opened on January 20th and features a cast led by Liisi LaFontaine in the role of Satine, and Jamie Bogyo as Christian. The pair are joined by Simon Bailey as the Duke, Elia Lo Tauro as Santiago, Clive Carter as Harold Zidler, and Jason Pennycooke as Toulouse-Lautrec. The rest of the cast for the show is made up of Lily Wang, Sophie Carmen Jones, Zoe Birkett, Misty May Tindall, Anthony Cragg, Amy Thornton, Jonathan Bishop, Melissa Nettleford, Timmika Ramsay, Tanisha Spring, Femi Akinfolarin, Robson Broad, Ian Carlyle, Jonathan Cordin, Adam Gillian, Luke Jackson, Alicia Mencía, Ciro Lourencio Meulens, Georgia Morgan, Katie Singh, Ian Oswald, Katie Ella Dunsden, Craig Ryder, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda, Ope Sowande, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Jon Tsouras, and Tommy Wade-Smith.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on the 2001 movie by Baz Luhrmann of the same name and is directed by Alex Timbers, with design by Derek McLane, sound design by Peter Hylenski, costume design by Catherine Zuber, choreography by Sonya Tayeh, and lighting design by Justin Townsend.
