Ahead of the much-anticipated opening of the musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre on November 12th, the musical has announced full casting for the forthcoming West End production.
The Daily Mail's entertainment reporter Baz Bamigboye has tweeted confirmation that Jamie Bogyo is to star as 'Christian' and Liisi LaFontaine, will take on the role of 'Satine'.
The full cast will also include Johnny Bishop, Elia Lo Tauro, Simon Bailey, Jason Pennycooke, Zoe Birkett, Timmika Ramsay, two-time Olivier Award nominee Clive Carter, and Sophie Carmen Jones.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on Baz Luhrmann's landmark 2001 movie and follows the fortunes of writer 'Christian' who falls head over heels in love with 'Satine', the titular nightclub's star showgirl in bohemian Paris at the turn of the last century. Taking its lead from the movie, the stage production is a 'jukebox musical', and features dozens of both contemporary and classic pop songs as part of the musical score.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical first premiered on Broadway in New York back in 2019, and earned an incredible 14 Tony Award nominations there. Now the West End is finally to welcome the show which will have its official opening night at the Piccadilly Theatre on December 8th following three weeks of previews.
