The “Revolting Children” are set to be in action for a bit longer as it has now been confirmed that Matilda the Musical is to play an extended booking period in London at the Cambridge Theatre until at least May 28th 2023. Tickets to Matilda the Musical are currently on sale.
The West End production of Matilda also welcomes the 20th set of children’s cast to the show from March 22nd. The young performers in the cast include Ethan Sokontwe, Hari Aggarwal, Tilly-Raye Bayer, Alexander Fitzgerald, Jacob Savva,Beth Gilmour, Aydin Ahmed, Thommy Bailey Vine, Scarlett Jayne Rackham, Sienna Clarke, Kylan Denis, Rosie Gell-Marquez, Drew Edwards, Robyn Elwell, Rory Finnegan, Rudy Gibson, Isla Gie, Gracie Hodson-Prior, Rafferty Ison, Isabella Jonsson, Darcy Kelly, Maisie Mardle, Joshua Moabi, Keanna-Skye O’Quinn, Bella Perdoni, Chancé Quaye, Bren Reilly, Niamh Ritchie, and Jayden Seder.
The adult cast of Matilda the Musical is led by Elliot Harper in the role of Miss Trunchbull who is joined by Carly Thoms as Miss Honey. Other notable roles are filled by Sebastien Torkia, who plays Mr Wormwood, Annette McLaughlin as Mrs Wormwood, Connor Lewis as Michael Wormwood, Landi Oshinowo as Mrs Phelps, and Matt Krzan as Rudolpho. The remainder of the ensemble is made up of Dawn Williams, Liberty Buckland, Ryan Pidgen, Georgia Carling, Tom Mather, Roger Dipper, Bryan Mottram, Katrina Dix, Kate Kenrick, Ben Kerr, Kane Oliver Parry, James Revell, and Gemma Scholes.
Matilda the Musical is based on the much loved Roald Dahl novel, and follows the titular child as she makes use of her powerful mind to try and save the day at her school, Crunchem Hall.
A brand new movie adaptation of Matilda, which takes inspiration from the stage adaptation, is set to be released on December 2nd. 2022. Emma Thompson is to take on the role of Miss Trunchbull with Lashana Lynch playing Miss Honey.
The stage version of Matilda is written by Dennis Kelly, with both lyrics and music from Tim Minchin and was directed and developed by Matthew Warchus. The rest of the creative team in the show includes sound by Simon Baker, choreography by Peter Darling, scenic design by Rob Howell, and lighting by Hugh Vanstone.
