Ahead of the forthcoming and much anticipated return of Jerusalem to the West End this spring, the full cast has now been revealed. Jerusalem will begin previews at the Apollo Theatre on April 16th, with an official opening night scheduled for April 28th. Performances of the play will run until August 7th.
Mark Rylance reprises his Olivier and Tony-winning performance as Johnny “Rooster” Byron with Mackenzie Crook also returning in the role of Ginger.
Other notable members of the Jerusalem cast include Eleanor Worthington-Cox as Phaedra, Kemi Awoderu as Pea, Barry Sloane as Troy Whitworth, Alan David as The Professor, Ed Kear as Davey, Shane David-Joseph as Mr Parsons, Charlotte O’Leary as Tanya, Gerard Horan as Wesley, Indra Ové as Dawn, Jack Riddiford as Lee, and Niky Wardley as Linda Fawcett.
Sharing the role of Marky will be Kobe Champion-Norville, Matteo Philbert, and Jesse Manzi. The rest of the cast of Jerusalem features Anthony Taylor, Amanda Gordon, Abigail Green, Callum Sheridan-Lee, and Greg Snowden. Final casting for the play will be announced in due course.
Jez Butterworth’s play follows wanted man Johnny "Rooster" Byron who is being pursued by the council, his friends, as well as gangsters. Following its world premiere in 2009 at the Royal Court Theatre, Jerusalem transferred into the West End at the Apollo Theatre and then over the pond onto Broadway, earning nominations for both 'Best Play' in the West End and also on Broadway.
Jerusalem is directed by Ian Rickson , and the original creative team responsible for the play are set to return with design by ULTZ, lighting design from Mimi Jordan Sherin, sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph, and composition by Stephen Warbeck.
Performances of Jerusalem will be at the Apollo Theatre.
