Eighties pin-up Jason Donovan is to make a return to the West End this summer in the new adaptation of the musical Grease at the Dominion Theatre. Donavan will play Teen Angel on select performances of the show from June 29th. Grease is due to begin performances at the Dominion Theatre on May 3rd. Tickets to Grease tickets are currently on sale.
Donovan rose to international fame playing the character, Scott Robinson in the Australian soap opera, 'Neighbours' in the 1980s. He subsequently had a successful music career and has starred in the West End playing the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. His rendition of the song ‘Any Dream Will Do’ from the production charted in the UK Donovan he later returned to appear in revivals of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium in both 2019 and 2021, playing the role of the Pharaoh.
Another familir name to appear in the latest revival of Grease at the Dominion Theatre will be Peter Andre who will star as Vince Fontaine. The cast of Grease will be led by Dan Partridge as Danny and Olivia Moore will play Sandy. The roles of the Pink Ladies in the production are to be made up of Jocasta Almgill as Rizzo, Eloise Davies as Frenchie, Mary Moore as Jan, and Lizzy-Rose Esin-Kelly as Marty. The Burger Palace Boys will be played by Paul French as Kenickie, Damon Gould as Sonny, Noah Harrison as Roger, and Jake Reynolds as Doody.
Other notable roles in the production include Jessica Croll who will play Patty Simcox, Corinna Powlesland as Miss Lynch, Katie Lee as Cha Cha, and Ronan Burns as Johnny Casino. Darren Bennett will star as both Officer Mailie and Vince Fontaine for certain performances. Other cast members featuring in the show will be Carly Miles, Ben Culleton, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Imogen Bailey, Pearce Barron, Kamilla Fernandes, Nelson, Ellie Kingdon, Remi Ferdinand, Kalisha Johnson, Zack Guest, and Kevin O’Dwyer.
The plot of Grease follows the fortunes of Danny and Sandy, two high school sweethearts who are reunited at Rydell High following a whirlwind summer romance for their senior year. Grease features a catalogue of instantly recognisable songs including as "Summer Nights", "Hopelessly Devoted to You," and "Greased Lightnin'".
The creative team behind Grease features direction from Nikolai Foster, sound design by Tom Marshall and Richard Brooker, choreography by Arlene Phillips, scenic design by Colin Richmond, and lighting design by Ben Cracknell.
Performances of Grease the Musical will be at the Dominion Theatre from May 3rd.
