The initial casting for the new production of Grease at the Dominion Theatre have now been announced prior to previews for the show beginning on May 3rd, with an official opening night scheduled for May 17h, and performances set to run until October 29th. Tickets to Grease are on sale now.
The role of Vince Fontaine in Grease will be taken by Peter Andre. Although this is billed as Andre's West End debut, the "Mysterious Girl" singer has previously guest starred at the Lyric Theatre in Thriller-Live.
Andre commented on the role, saying “I'm beyond excited to be making my West End debut playing Vince Fontaine in Grease at the beautiful Dominion Theatre, Grease is such an iconic musical and we can guarantee audiences will have the most wonderful evening listening to songs we all know and love. We can't wait to see you there!"
The iconic roles of 'Danny' and 'Sandy' will be taken by Dan Partridge and Olivia Moore respectively, with the rest of the Pink Ladies being completed by Eloise Davies as Frenchie, Jocasta Almgill as Rizzo, Mary Moore as Jan, and Lizzy-Rose Esin-Kelly as Marty. The roles of Burger Palace Boys will include Damon Gould as Sonny, Jake Reynolds as Doody, and Paul French as Kenickie.
Other notable roles in the show will include Jessica Croll as Patty Simcox, Katie Lee as Cha Cha, Corinna Powlesland as Miss Lynch, and Ronan Burns as Johnny Casino. Darren Bennett is to take on the roles of both Officer Mailie and also Vince Fontaine for certain performances. The rest of the Grease ensemble will feature Carly Miles, Ellie Kingdom, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Remi Ferdinand, Imogen Bailey, Pearce Barron, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Kalisha Johnson, and Kevin O’Dwyer, with additional casting to be announced.
The plot of Grease the Musical follows the fortunes of high school sweethearts Danny and Sandy who are reunited at Rydell High following a whirlwind summer romance for their senior year. Grease features all of the famous songs from the successful Hollywood movie starring Johmn Travolta and Olivia Newton-John such as “Summer Nights.”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You", and “Greased Lightnin’”.
The creative team for the musical includes direction by Nikolai Foster, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, scenic design by Colin Richmond, sound design by Tom Marshall and Richard Brooker, and choreography by Arlene Phillips.
