Initial Casting Announced For Anything Goes Ahead Of UK Tour & Barbican Return

Ahead of its forthcoming national tour and return to the Barbican later in 2022, initial casting for Anything Goes has been announced. The popular musical will once again showcase for a limited engagement at the Barbican from July 15th to September 3rd.  Tickets to Anything Goes at the Barbican Theatre are on sale now.

Taking on the role of  Reno Sweeney will be Kerry Ellis  — the role previously played by both Rachel York and Sutton Foster. Ellis has previous West End credits including roles in Cats, Wicked, and Murder Ballad.

Speaking about the appointment, Ellis commented “I am so excited to be taking on the role of Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes this summer. This glorious show is classic musical theatre at its very best. Reno is an iconic character in musical theatre. I can’t wait to get my tap shoes on and share this fabulous musical.”

The new cast of Anything Goes will also feature national treasure, Bonnie Langford who takes on the role of Evangeline Harcourt.  Langford has several recent West End credits including 42nd Street and Dolly Parton's 9 to 5. Other notable appointments will be Olivier Award-winning actors Simon Callow and Denis Lawson who will play Elisha Whitney and Moonface Martin respectively.

Returning to the cast of Anything Goes from the recent 2021 production include Haydn Oakley as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Carly Mercedes Dyer as Erma, Samuel Edwards as Billy Crocker, and Nicole-Lily Baisden as Hope Harcourt. Full casting for Anything Goes is set to be announced in due course.

The plot of the musical Anything Goes follows a group of eclectic passengers as they set sail for London aboard the S.S. American. During the long journey, passengers find love, have their identities mistaken, and generally get up to all kinds o of mischief. Anything Goes features a timeless musical score including songs by Cole Porter such as “You’re The Top,” “Friendship,” and “I Get A Kick Out of You.” 

The creative team behind Anything Goes features direction and choreography by Kathleen Marshall, sound design by Jonathan Deans, costume design by Jon Morrell, scenic design by Derek McLane, and lighting design by Hugh Vanstone.

The production is to tour the UK this year starting in Bristol, with additional dates scheduled for Liverpool, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Manchester, before resuming performances at the Barbican in July.

Performances of Anything Goes will be at the Barbican from July 15th 2022.
