Producers have now named the full cast ahead of the much-anticipated world premiere of Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical at the Lyric Theatre in London in October this year. Tickets for the show are on sale now securely online.
Olivier Award-nominated actor Arinzé Kene will take on the role of Bob Marley in the show and is joined by Gabrielle Brooks who will portray his wife Rita Marley after recently starring in J’Ouvert at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
Other key members of the cast will consist of Melissa Brown-Taylor, who will play Marcia Griffiths, Shanay Holmes as Cindy Breakspeare, Sophia Mackay as Judy Mowatt, Natey Jones as Peter Tosh, and Jacade Simpson as Bunny Wailer. The rest of the cast is completed by Daniel Bailey, Nate Simpson, Teddy Wills., Charles Blyth, Maxwell Cole, Craig Blake, Athena Collins, Michael Duke, Raphael Estavia, Declan Spaine, Henry Faber, Kimmy Edwards, Savanna Jeffrey, Cleopatra Rey, Cannon Hay, Julene Robinson, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton, Archie Smith, and Jaime Tait.
Dramatising the late performer’s colourful but tragically short life, Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is set to share his musical message and includes a collection of his greatest hits, including “No Woman No Cry” "Three Little Birds" and “Exodus.”
The show has been written by Lee Hall, whose previous playwriting credits include 'Billy Elliot'. Clint Dyer will direct the production, with choreography from Shelley Maxwell, costume design by Lisa Duncan, scenic design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Charles Balfour, and sound by Tony Gayle.
Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical will showcase at the Lyric Theatre from October 1st 2021.
