Full casting for the London premiere of the Jeremy O' Harris play Daddy: A Melodrama has now been announced. Daddy: A Melodrama will begin previews at the Almeida Theatre on March 26th, with an opening night scheduled for April 6th and performances will run until April 30th.
The plot of Daddy: A Melodrama focuses on Franklin, a young black artist who is seduced by an older man, Andre. As their powerful connection strengthens and evolves into an irresistible love, Franklin’s mother becomes convinced that her son is in trouble.
The cast of Daddy will be led by Terique Jarrett who takes the role of Franklin and Claes Bang will play Andre. The remainder of the cast of Daddy is made up of T'Shan Williams, Ioanna Kimbook, Rebecca Bernice Amissah, John McCrea, Keisha Atwell, Jenny Rainsford, and Sharlene Whyte.
Daddy: A Melodrama had its world premiere in New York at the Pershing Square Signature Center in 2018 and has a creative team that includes direction by Danya Taymor, costume design by Montana Levi Blanco, sound design by Lee Kinney, set design by Matt Saunders, and Peter Todd, and lighting design by Isabella Byrd.
