Prior to previews beginning at the Turbine Theatre ahead of the UK premiere of But I’m A Cheerleader, the full cast of the musical now has been named. Previews will begin at the Turbine Theatre on February 18th, with an official opening night scheduled for February 23rd and performances due to run until April 16th. But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical is based on the coming-of-age movie of the same name from 1999 and follows the fortunes of Megan, a high school cheerleader who is packed off to a conversion therapy camp to "cure" her of being a lesbian. During her time at the camp, Megan's life is changed when she meets and bonds with a tomboy named Graham.
Alice Croft takes on the starring role of Megan Williams, with Evie Rose Lane playing the tomboy, Graham. The rest of the cast is made up of Kia-Paris Walcott as Sinead, Oliver Brooks as Dad/Larry, Jodie Steele as Kimberly/Hilary, Edward Chittick as Jared/Rock, Jodie Jacobs as Mom/Lloyd, Damon Gould as André, Tiffany Graves as Mary Brown, Lemuel Knights as Mike, Harry Singh as Jalal, and Aaron Teoh as Dolph.
But I’m A Cheerleader features both book and lyrics by Bill Augustin, direction by Tania Azevedo, and music by Andrew Abrams. The rest of the creative team includes sound design by Christ Whybrow, set and costume design by David Shields, choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento, and lighting design by Martha Godfrey.
