It may being boiling hot right now but Christmas really is just around the corner and the wonderful feelgood festive show Elf the Musical is making its much welcome return to the West End at the Dominion Theatre. Elf will begin previews on November 14th, with an official opening night scheduled for November 24th, and performances due to run until January 7th, 2023. Tickets to Elf are available to book both online or through the box office.
The plot of Elf is based on the 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell of the same name and follows the fortunes of Buddy, who crawls into Santa’s sack as a baby and ends up being raised as an elf in the North Pole. When Buddy eventually learns that he’s actually a human, he decides to go back to his birthplace of New York City to attempt to reunite with his father and at the same time save Christmas.
The new London production of the musical will feature Simon Lipkin in the role of Buddy. Lipkin has previous West End credits and has also starred in productions including 'Guys and Dolls', 'The Wind in the Willows' as well as the Christmas musical, Nativity! Joining Lipkin in the cast will be Georgina Castle who will play the role of Jovie having recently appeared as Marie in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Cinderella at the Gillan Lynne Theatre. Further casting for Elf will be announced in due course at a later date.
Elf features a story by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan. Music and lyrics for the show are by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and Philip Wm. McKinley will direct the production. The wider creative team also includes sound design by Gareth Owen, choreography by Liam Steel, original set and costume design by Tim Goodchild, and lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe.
Elf will showcase at the Dominion Theatre from November 14th.
