Following a successful UK tour, Disney's Beauty and the Beast is set to transfer to the West End at the London Palladium this summer for a limited season. Previews will begin at the London Palladium on June 24th, and performances are due to run until to September 17th. Tickets to Disney's Beauty and the Beast tickets will be available to book online soon.
Disney's classic tale of Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a young woman who runs away only to get herself imprisoned in a castle. During her incarceration, Belle is greeted by numerous anthropomorphic household items, including Lumière the candelabra, Cogsworth the grandfather clock, and Mrs. Potts the teapot. They all work together to free themselves and be rid of a curse put on them by the evil enchantress and during the course of events, Belle finds herself beginning to fall for the 'Beast', who longs to be transformed.
The musical is a Disney musical based on the 1991 movie of the same name and features lyrics and music by Tim Rice and Alan Menken, with songs including “Home,” “Be Our Guest,” and “Human Again”.
Courtney Stapleton will take the role of Belle, which she has played throughout the UK tour with Shaq Taylor joining the company to play the Beast. The pair are joined by Martin Ball as Maurice, Tom Senior as Gaston, Gavin Lee as Lumiere, Sam Bailey as Mrs. Potts and Nigel Richards as Cogsworth, Louis Stockil as Le Fou, Samantha Bingley as Wardrobe, and Emma Caffrey as Babette.
The full cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is completed by Rhys West, Richard Astbury, Emily Squibb, Sarah Benbelaid, Ashley-Jordon Packe, Jake Bishop, Autumn Draper, Aimee Moore, Jennifer Louise Jones, Pamela Blair, Liam Buckland, Jennifer Louise JonesJasmine Davis, Matthew Dawkins, Daisy Edwards, Alyn Hawke, George Hinson, Brontë Lavine, Thomas-Lee Kidd, David McIntosh, Sam Murphy, Grace Swaby, and India Thornton.
The show's creative team includes direction by Rob Roth, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, choreography by Matt West, scenic design by Stan Meyr, and lighting design by Natasha Katz.
The West End opening of Disney's Beauty and the Beast will mean that there will be four Disney musicals running concurrently in London this summer: Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Mary Poppins and The Lion King.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast will showcase for a limited season at the London Palladium from June 2022.
