More good news for the West End arrived today as it was announced that the hugely popular musical, Dear Evan Hansen is to reopen at the Noël Coward Theatre in the autumn. Performances of Dear Evan Hansen will resume from 26th October and will include an upcoming performance dedicated to volunteers and mental health care workers.
Producer Stacey Mindich said of the musical's return to the West End: “Mental well-being has become a core part of our show’s narrative over the years, and we hear from so many audience members about how the show has helped them on their own journeys to mental wellness.”
The plot of Dear Evan Hansen focuses on the titular character as he attempts to navigate his way through high school, finding his own unconventional way to fit in and in doing so creating a global community. The musical first opened at the Noël Coward Theatre back in November 2019, to huge critical acclaim, and won three Olivier Awards including 'Best New Musical'.
The new casting for the return of the show has yet to be announced. Prior to the theatre closing in March 2020, the cast included Sam Tutty starring as Evan Hansen, who was joined by, Rebecca McKinnis, Doug Colling, Marcus Harman, Lucy Anderson, Lauren Ward, Jack Loxton, Rupert Young, and Nicole Raquel Dennis.
Dear Evan Hansen has a book by Steven Levenson, and features lyrics and music by the Academy Award-winning lyricist and composer Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Performances of Dear Evan Hansen will resume at the Noël Coward Theatre from 26th October. Tickets to the production are set to go on sale soon and will be available to book securely through this website.
