The hugely popular and much loved feelgood musical Come From Away is to finally reopen its doors to resume performances at the Phoenix Theatre from July 22nd with an extended booking period now scheduled through to Feb 12th. 2022.
The doors to Newfoundland will reopen this summer, telling the remarkable stories of some of the 7,000 air passengers who were diverted to the small town of Gander in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Come From Away tells the tale of how a new resilient, international community formed through both tragic and extraordinary circumstances. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical is based on true stories they discovered in 2011 while doing research in Newfoundland.
Casting for the reopening of the show will include those who were previously in the production before the big shutdown due to Covid-19 last March. Alice Fear will star as Beverley Bass, appearing alongside Jonathan Andrew Hume, Mark Dugdale, Jenna Boyd, James Doherty, Alasdair Harvey, Mary Doherty, Harry Morrison, Kate Graham, Emma Salvo, and Cat Simmons. Also featuring will be Ricardo Castro, Chiara Baronti, Jennifer Tierney, Stuart Hickey, Alexander McMorran, Micha Richardson, Sorelle Marsh, and Matthew Whennell-Clark.
Come From Away is a five-time Olivier Award-nominated production that won best new musical at the Olivier Awards. and was originally due to resume 'concert' performances from February 2021, however, due to the lockdown, those shows had to be cancelled.
Come From Away will resume performances at the Phoenix Theatre from 22nd July 2021.
