Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical Cinderella will now resume performances at the Gillian Lynne Theatre with its world premiere now rescheduled for August 18th with the press night set for August 25th.
Due to a member of the company testing positive for Covid-19, performances of the show were suspended from July 17th.
Andrew Lloyd Webber earlier this week issued a statement saying:
“Today, on this “Freedom Day”, I have been forced to take the heart-breaking decision not to open my Cinderella… the impossible conditions created by the blunt instrument that is the Government’s isolation guidance, mean that we cannot continue. We have been forced into a devastating decision which will affect the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of people and disappoint the thousands who have booked to see the show.
Cinderella was ready to go. My sadness for our cast and crew, our loyal audience and the industry I have been fighting for is impossible to put into words.”
Performances of the much anticipated new musical from Andrew Lloyd-Webber began at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on June 25th which stars Carrie Hope Fletcher as Cinderella, alongside Ivano Turco who plays Prince Sebastian. The role of the Stepmother is taken by Victoria Hamilton-Barritt and Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle play stepsisters Adele and Marie.
Performances of Cinderella The Musical will resume at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from August 18th. Tickets are on sale now through this website.
