Following a run at the Chichester Festival Theatre last year, South Pacific is to play a limited summer season in London at Sadler’s Wells from July 27th until August 28th after which the production will embark on a nationwide tour.
The cast of South Pacific has been announced and will feature Julian Ovenden in the role of Emile de Becque. He will be joined by Gina Beck as Ensign Nellie Forbush, Sera Maehara as Liat, Rob Houchen as Lieutenant Joseph Cable, and Joanna Ampil as Bloody Mary. All five have already played their respective roles in the Chichester performances of the show. Further casting for South Pacific is set to be announced in due course.
South Pacific is a classic musical set on a remote island during during World War II where Nellie, an American nurse, falls in love with French plantation owner Emile. The musical from Rodgers and Hammerstein has a well-known musical score featuring songs such as “Bali Ha’i”, “Some Enchanted Evening”.
The creative team behind this latest production of South Pacific features direction from Daniel Evans, sound design by Paul Groothuis, choreography and movement direction by Ann Yee, lighting design by Howard Harrison, and costume and scenic design by Peter McKintosh .
Performances of the musical South Pacific will showcase at Sadler’s Wells from July 27th - August 28th.
