Ahead of its first London revival in a quarter of a century, the initial casting has finally been revealed for Habeas Corpus which will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory from December 3rd - February 26th, 2022
The cast of Habeas Corpus features Jasper Britton as Arthur Wicksteed, Ria Jones as Mrs. Swabb, Kirsty Besterman as Constance Wicksteed, Caroline Langrishe as Lady Rumpers, Matthew Cottle as Canon Throbbing, Abdul Salis as Mr. Shanks, Thomas Josling as Dennis Wicksteed, and Catherine Russell as Muriel Wicksteed. The plot of Habeas Corpus follows the fortunes of Dr. Arthur Wicksteed, a general practitioner who is treating his patient Felicity Rumpers Brighton during the 1960's, while at the same time, friends, family, and sexual pleasures are ruling over decision making. The term Habeas Corpus and the basis for the play comes from the legal term of the same name, which translates directly as “you shall have the body.”
The Menier Chocolate Factory finally reopened its doors last week following its forced closure due to Covid-19 with Paula Vogel’s Indecent. Other upcoming productions at the venue also include Brian & Roger - A Highly Offensive Play.
