Hollywood stars Jessie Buckley and Eddie Redmayne are set to welcome audiences to the cabaret in the West End from November 2021, as the Playhouse Theatre is brilliantly transformed into the infamous 'Kit Kat Club' with Rebecca Frecknall directing the much-anticipated return of Kander and Ebb's, Cabaret - one of the world's most iconic musicals back to the London stage. Cabaret tickets will be available to book on Theatre Tickets London soon.

Redmayne takes on the role of the provocative Emcee, which was famously originated by Joel Grey in his first — and very much-anticipated — professional performance in a stage musical and is joined by Jessie Buckley who will star in the role of Sally Bowles. Rising star Buckley was seen most recently in the National Theatre’s filmed production of Romeo and Juliet, and has also appeared in films including 'Judy', and 'Wild Rose', as well as TV series such as 'Chernobyl' and 'Fargo'. Rebecca Frecknall will direct this latest West End run of Cabaret following her production of Tennessee Williams's 'Summer and Smoke' at the Almeida Theatre won an Olivier Award. Tom Scutt will provide set and costume design, and Julia Cheng will be responsible for choreography.

The Playhouse has been reconfigured for this latest production of cabaret to seat patrons in the round, thus creating a more intimate and immersing experience in the auditorium — and limiting its capacity to just 550.

The production provides an exciting opportunity to either discover, or revisit, Kander and Ebb’s hugely resonant musical that was brought to the stage based on short stories from Christopher Isherwood and John Van Druten’s play.  Set in Berlin during the early 1930s, the plot follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw who meets English cabaret singer Sally Bowles, a regular performer at the 'Kit Kat Club'at a time where the rise and influence of Nazism is beginning to creep in and affect all aspects of life in the city and threatens this hedonistic haven leftover from the Weimar Republic.

'Cabaret' first opened on Broadway back in 1966, and has been a huge hit on both screen and stage, with Bob Fosse’s movie version, starring Liza Minnelli and Michael York winning 8 Oscars. Dame Judi Dench starred in the original West End production.

Part of the enduring success of Cabaret is down to its indelible musical score featuring classic songs like “Wilkommen,” “Money,” “Meir Herr,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and “Maybe This Time.”
