Following two concerts held at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, it has been announced that Bonnie and Clyde The Musical is to now receive its West End premiere at the Arts Theatre on April 9th. Tickets to Bonnie and Clyde The Musical will be on sale soon.
Bonnie and Clyde The Musical is based on the true stories of the notorious outlaws Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow. The infamous couple committed numerous bank robberies and went on killing sprees in America during the Great Depression. The musical features an original book from Ivan Menchell, music from Frank Wildhorn, and lyrics by Don Black.
Ivan Menchell commented on the forthcoming premiere saying: “There is a tremendous love for this show now, and it’s fantastic that it is getting a West End run. The only thing the British love more than Americans on stage is Americans behaving badly on stage!”
Bonnie and Clyde made its premiere on Broadway back in 2011, starring Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan in the title roles, and although the show received several Tony Award nominations, it ran for just 69 performances. A London workshop for Bonnie and Clyde took place in 2017 and featured a cast including Evelyn Hoskins and Jamie Muscato.
The creative team for the show will include both direction by Nick Winston, and costume and set design by Philip Whitcomb. Casting for the West End production of Bonnie and Clyde is set to be announced shortly.
Concert performances of Bonnie and Clyde were stagedearlier this month at Theatre Royal Drury Lane with Jeremy Jordan reprising his role of Clyde, with Frances Mayli McCann playing Bonnie.
Performances of Bonnie and Clyde The Musical will be at the Arts Theatre from April 9th.
