The multi-Academy Award-nominated Hollywood actress Amy Adams is poised to make her debut in the West End from May 23rd, 2022 by taking on the role of Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie which is to run at the Duke Of York's Theatre next year. Tickets to the production will be available soon
Amy Adams has been acclaimed for her starring roles in films such as 'American Hustle', 'Enchanted' and 'Big Eyes' and will be back on screen soon in the forthcoming movie version of 'Dear Evan Hansen' as Cynthia Murphy. On stage, Adams has starred in the New York revival of 'Into The Woods' as the 'Baker’s Wife'.
Tennessee Williams' play, The Glass Menagerie is based on characters in his own family and is told as a memory play following the fortunes of Amanda Wingfield, along with her children Tom and Laura as they all live together in St. Louis.
In the London production, the role of Tom is to be be shared by Paul Hilton (The Inheritance) and Tom Glynn-Carney (The Ferryman). Victor Alli and Lizzie Annis will complete the cast.
Jeremy Herrin will direct the West End production, slightly altering the text to allow both Hilton and Glynn-Carney to share the same role. The Glass Menagerie will be very the first production to be staged by Second Half Productions, a new entertainment company that has been launched by Herrin, Rob O'Rahilly and Alan Stacey. Speaking about the new company, Herrin commented: "We are all thrilled that Amy Adams is joining us on our first venture, and we look forward to further announcements of new plays, timely revivals and exciting musicals in due course.”
Performances of The Glass Menagerie will commence at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 23rd May 2022.
