Alex Young is set to lead the cast in a brand new production of Anyone Can Whistle which will begin previews at Southwark Playhouse on April 1st, with an opening night scheduled for April 5th and performances set to run until May 7th.
The plot of Anyone Can Whistle charts the decision-making of Mayoress Cora Hoover Hooper who is at first hated by her constituents, as the government controls everything in their small town. In an attempt to win over the people, the Mayoress needs to act fast to save her community.
Alex Young is currently starring at the Sheffield Crucible in 'She Loves Me', and her London theatre credits include roles in 'Folies', 'Promises, Promises', and 'Carousel'. Full casting for the new production of Anyone Can Whistle is to be announced in due course.
Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, along with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, Anyone Can Whistle is a musical from Stephen Sondheim that has yet to receive a premiere in the West End and features a creative team including direction by Matthew Rankcom, lighting design by Alex Musgrave, choreography by Lisa Pound, and set and costume design by Cory Shipp.
Performances of Anyone Can Whistle will play at the Southwark Playhouse from April 1st - May 7th.
