A-Typical Rainbow Set For Summer Season In London

A brand new play that delves into the complex lives of young autistic people in today's society is to open in London at the Turbine Theatre this year. A-Typical Rainbow will begin previews at the Turbine Theatre from June 30th, with a scheduled opening night set for July 7th and performances due to run until August 7th.

A-Typical Rainbow is by JJ Green who commented on the production saying, “This play was written by an autistic writer, has been read and approved by many autistic artists and marks the first time a piece of theatre has been written about us, by us, for you. It is commonplace for stories to be told about us – without us. This play aims to change that. It feels surreal & entirely golden to see what started off as words on a page finally come to life on stage.”

A-Typical Rainbow focusses on an overly imaginative boy who seems to be living in his own fantasy world and struggles to fit in and adapt to normal life, even when his mother tries to help him.

A-Typical Rainbow will be directed by Bronagh Logan with Max Alexander Taylor, who is himself autistic, providing sound design, and choreography is provided by William Spencer, who is neuro-divergent.

Performances of A-Typical Rainbow will be at the Turbine Theatre from June 30th.
