Titus Andronicus

Titus Andronicus Tickets London

Blanche McIntyre directs the epic conclusion of the Rome Season at the Barbican.  The decline of Rome is reaching down to vicious depths in Titus Andronicus - Shakespeare’s most brutal and bloody play.

Titus is a ruler completely exhausted by a combination of war and loss. He relinquishes power but Rome is in a state of disorder as rape and murder are rife and cannibalism and severed body parts fill the moral void at the heart of this dark and corrupt world.

Shakespeare’s gory tale of revenge presents us with murder as entertainment, and as the body count begins to rise, questions are asked about the very nature of sexuality, family, class and society.
