Marnie Tickets London

Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer presents Marnie at the London Coliseum in what is his UK opera debut, in a collaboration with ENO Music Director Martyn Brabbins.

Marnie is a complex psychological thriller set in late 1950's England where a young woman is making her way through life in a seemingly never ending cycle of embezzling from employers, moving on and changing her identity. When she is caught red handed by her current boss Mark Rutland, he blackmails her into a loveless marriage eventually leaving her with no choice but to confront the hidden trauma from her past head on.

Grammy Award-winning mezzo Sasha Cooke takes on the title role, while bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch sings the part of Mark Rutland. The duo are joined by ENO favourite Lesley Garrett.

Based on Winston Graham’s novel, Marnie examines the true cost of freedom, the limitations of human forgiveness and the impossibility of escaping the past.
