The Duchess Of Malfi Announces Full Cast

The Duchess Of Malfi which will open this March at the Old Vic will featureTom Bateman, Mark Bonnar, Harry Lloyd and Finbar Lynch have in the cast to showcase Jamie Lloyd's forthcoming production.


The play which will also include the previously announced Eve Best in the production, will play from 17th March to 9th June at the Old Vic theatre.

A play written in the early 1600s, The Duchess Of Malfi is set in the Italian Renaissance court of Amalfi and tells the dark and bloody story of the recently widowed Duchess who secretly marries her steward against the strong wishes of her powerful brothers. As jealousy, madness and bloodshed begin to surround her, the Duchess retains her calm, dignity and strength, even when facing death.

Bateman was most recently seen on stage at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in The Lion In Winter and has also appeared at the Wyndhams in Much Ado About Nothing. On the small screen the actor will soon be seen in the BBC's forthcoming Parade's End, written by playwright Tom Stoppard.

Bonnar's London stage credits include The Cherry Orchard at the National Theatre, Novecento at the Trafalgar Studios 2 and Twelfth Night at the Wyndham's. The actor is perhaps best known for his screen work having appeared in Doctor Who, Twenty Twelve, and Paradox.

Star of The Iron Lady, Lloyd has appeared on the London stage in The Little Dog Laughed and A View From The Bridge, and boasts on screen credits including Great Expectations, Game Of Thrones and the BBC's eagerly awaited forthcoming adaptation of Henry IV.

Lynch returns to the Old Vic Theatre following appearing in Dancing At Lughnasa back in 2009. The actor has worked with the RSC, appearing in The Tempest and Julius Caesar, and in productions of Portrait Of  A Lady/A Doll's House and Love's Labour's Lost.



The Duchess Of Malfi will take over from the comedy play Noises Off which will transfer to the west end at the Novello Theatre for a limited run.
