According to the Daily Mail, the Scottish pop star Paolo Nutini is apparently in negotiations to write the songs for the forthcoming musical which was released on screen in 2009 starring Aaron Johnson, and centres on the teenage years of John Lennon, exploring his family relationships, his early romances, and his first meeting with Paul McCartney.
Nowhere Boy is based on an autobiography by John Lennon's half-sister Julia Baird, and focuses on the time before the Beatles were formed and went to Hamburg, which was the subject of current West End musical Backbeat which is currently playing at the Duke Of York's Theatre in London.
As a result, the stage show of Nowhere Boy is unlikely to feature any Beatles songs. According to the DaBaz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, both producers and Ecosse Films "want to listen to an original score, before they decide how to proceed, in terms of the music".
Nowhere Boy is just one of a number of movies currently being adapted for the west end stage. Others include Made In Dagenham, The Bodyguard and Shakespeare In Love.
