Legally Blonde To Close In April

Legally Blonde The Musical the Olivier Award winning production at the Savoy Theatre in London has announced it will close on 7th April this year after a three year run.

Legally Blonde The Musical transformed the Savoy Theatre into a pink haven to home the stage adaptation of the 2001 Hollywood movie, following a successful Broadway run. The west end production of the show opened to four star reviews in January 2010 with The Independent's Paul Taylor declaring: "I had thought snootily that the stage show of Legally Blonde might put the "ugh" in "euuuugh!" But omigod was I like totally blown away."

Set in the prestigious halls of Harvard Law School and the colourful rooms of the equally colourful Elle Woods's sorority house, Legally Blonde The Musical tells the story of Elle's pledge to lay down her credit cards and hit the law books in order to win back the heart of her ex-boyfriend Warner.

The stage show production features a musical score and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin with songs including Omigod You Guys, So Much Better and Whipped Into Shape.

Sheridan Smith, who originated the role of Elle Woods, won widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of the fluffy, scatty but gutsy blonde, winning the much lauded Best Actress in a Musical Olivier Award.

Current stars of the show, Carley Stenson, Stephen Ashfield and Ben Freeman, as well as original cast member Peter Davison, will continue in their roles until the show finishes itswest end run.

Fans of Legally Blonde will be pleased to hear that the show will continue its UK tour and plans are in place for an Australian production which should open in Sydney later this year.
