We Will Rock You

Dominion Theatre London

The Dominion Theatre in London is the current venue for the musical We Will Rock You.

We Will Rock You, the musical at the Dominion Theatre in London came about as the result We Will Rock You Ticketsof a unique collaboration between Ben Elton, and supergroup Queen and features 31 of Queen's greatest hits and has been delighting west end theatre goers for the past decade.

The story of We Will Rock You is set to a different format to other so called 'juke box' musical based on the hits of famous bands. Instead of simply chronicling the story of Queen, Ben Elton has written a unique and bizarre story set 300 years in the future, where globalisation is complete and Earth has been transformed by the authoritarian Globalsoft Corporation into Planet Mall where everyone must conform to super strict orders. The evil Killer Queen rules all, and every citizen must dress, think and act the same with freedom of any musical expression strictly banned under her dictatorial control. Most adhere to this new way of life, fearful of reprisals from the company as if you step out of line then you will inevitably be brainwashed until you are forced to conform.

On Planet Mall musical instruments are banned. The company computers generate the tunes and the kids download them. It's an age of plastic Boy Bands and Girl bands. Of Boy and Girl Bands. Of Girl Bands with a couple of boys in them who look like girls anyway. Nothing is left to chance, and all hits are scheduled years in advance.

Not everyone goes along with this though and with such an oppressive rule some kind of rebellion is inevitable. Enter the Bohemians, a group of freedom fighters who still believe in free thought and of course, freedom of musical expession. Amongst the fighters are Galileo and Scaramouche, who prophesise a return to the Golden Age of music, a period in history they call the "Rhapsody".

They embark on an epic quest, alongside Pop and avoiding the watchful evil queens Ga Ga cops, hoping to find a guitar known only as the "mighty axe of the Hairy One". It will be a difficult journey and one that will pit them directly up against the evil Killer Queen.
