The Royal Opera House presents Thomas Allen along with five young operatic talents starring in Cosi Fan Tutte, Mozart's tuneful and theatrical comedy about love and fidelity which will showcase from February 25th - March 16th 2019 at the venue.
Containing some of Mozart's most attractive ensembles and beautiful arias, Cosi Fan Tutte is filled with both pathos and humour. Inspired by Così's alternative title, 'the school for lovers', German director Jan Philipp Gloger has set his production in a theatre, with the character of Don Alfonso as an impresario who takes the four lovers onto a role-playing journey filled with picturesque settings where they learn that love is not simply a God-given thing but something that must be fought for.
This was to be Mozart's final collaboration with Lorenzo da Ponte, who found inspiration for the story from a variety of sources including Renaissance tales and Greek myths. Although Così was slower to find success than their previous collaborations, ever since the second half of the 20th century its wonderful music and witty, compassionate examination of young love have gone to ensure its lasting popularity.
(3 mins) The Royal Opera House is off Covent Garden piazza, which is visible from the tube station exit. There is a revolving door entrance at the piazza.
