A Bowl of Cherries is a musical revue featuring Gary Wilmott and Claire Buckfield at the Charing Cross Theatre in London that takes a looks at life through a cycle of different plays and songs. All this is observed by two theatre ghosts from the last war; Albert Farthing and Penny Riddle, who are both trapped between this world and the next.
The book, written by Carolyn Pertwee is both thought provoking and humerous with music from Ivor Novello award winning David Martin. The songs and plays illustrate different aspects of life's both bitter and sweet experiences and take us on a journey all the way from the cradle right up to to infinity.
Albert is weary of being in limbo and wants to move on but is held back by Penny who is in complete denial, believing she that is still alive and waiting for her big theatrical moment. Their story unfolds throughout the evening, weaving in and out of the events contained in A Bowl of Cherries, concluding with their own very dramatic denouement.
All Bowl Of Cherries is a thoroughly entertaining musical revue is performed by eight versatile actors and musicians, and was devised and directed by Olivier Award nominated Andrew C Wadsworth. The songs and plays in the show are instantly accessible as they chart life's familiar dilemmas; A Bowl of Cherries has something for everyone!
